Copyright & DMCA Policy

Guidelines governing document ownership, educational rights in course materials, and statutory DMCA takedown notice procedures for ADAFix.

Last updated: October 11, 2026

Document ownership & user authorization

Users of ADAFix represent and warrant that they hold the necessary copyright, institutional licensing, or lawful permission to upload, process, and remediate the digital documents they submit.

ADAFix does not claim copyright or ownership in any document content, syllabi, images, or files you submit to the service, nor in the remediated output documents delivered to you.

Course materials & educational fair use boundaries

While universities, community colleges, and public agencies have legal obligations to deliver accessible course content under ADA Title II and Section 504, educational fair use does not grant an unrestricted right to reproduce, transform, or distribute entire commercial textbooks, copyrighted coursepacks, or proprietary third-party manuals.

Users must adhere to institutional copyright policies and fair-use guidelines before uploading third-party works for digital remediation.

DMCA takedown notice requirements

If you are a copyright owner or authorized agent and believe content processed or made accessible through ADAFix infringes your copyright, please submit a written DMCA notice to dmca@useadafix.com including:

  • Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed.
  • Identification of the specific material claimed to be infringing, with sufficient detail to enable us to locate it.
  • Your contact information (name, institutional affiliation if applicable, address, phone number, and email address).
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief that use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that the information in the notification is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner.
  • A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or authorized representative.

Counter-notifications and repeat infringers

If material you uploaded was disabled pursuant to a DMCA notice and you believe this was due to mistake or misidentification (such as lawful licensing or educational exemption), you may submit a counter-notification to dmca@useadafix.com in accordance with 17 U.S.C. § 512(g).

ADAFix maintains a policy of terminating account privileges for users who repeatedly infringe intellectual property rights or submit unauthorized third-party works in violation of our Terms of Service.
